Gut Oggau - Atanasius 2019
The 14 hectare estate, in the small Burgenland town of Oggau, an Austrian couple discovered an abandoned wineyard from the 17th century. They restored it in 2007. Having been abandoned for multiple years, the soils had been washed clean of the various chemicals used in previous conventional farm work, allowing them to immediately begin biodynamic production using the old vines. The estate is Demeter classified.
Grapes are hand-harvested. The wine is partly fermented on the skins in wooden vats, the rest is fermented in wooden barrels. Then the wine is aged in wooden barrels. We get notes of dark berries and red fruits. Pair it with lamb, light meat, rich fish and enjoy!
